Faye S Taxman, Ph.D. is a University Professor in the Criminology, Law and Society Department and Director of the Center for Advancing Correctional Excellence at George Mason University. Dr. Taxman is recognized for her work in the development of the seamless systems of care models that link the criminal justice with other service delivery systems as well as re-engineering probation and parole supervision services, and organizational change models. Her work covers the breadth of the correctional system from jails and prisons to community corrections and adult and juvenile offenders, including all types of interventions and system improvement factors.

A native of Phenix City,Alabama and Presently reside in Dale City, Virginia. Married to Surletha Hicks, with 2 sons, 1 daughter and 3 granddaughters. Served 33 years in the U. S. Army, as Special bandsmen/Corps Sergeant (manager) in the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps and Electronic Shop Manager in the Signal Corps in Korea and Fort Riley Kansas.Marched with and served as, President,Music Master, Treasurer, and instructor of the Potomac Ancient Fife and Drum Corps of Arlington and Vienna Virginia. President of the Dale City Civic Association, known as “The Voice of Dale City” Owner of D.E.P. Copy and Printing Center, Woodbridge, Virginia Charter member of the Prince William Chamber of Commerce Member of Montclair Business Networking International (BNI) Assistant Governor for Rotary District 7610 Past President of the Woodbridge Rotary Club and currently Child Protection Officer Staging Manager for the Annual Dale City Civic Independence Day Parade.
